The gospel makes incredible promises to those who believe in and follow Jesus. It offers us grace and peace and joy and hope. It says we have eternal life, here and now as well as later in heaven. Oh, and it promises one other thing here and now – suffering. Jesus says that those who follow him will have tribulation, which is a fancy word for trouble, pain, sorrow. So let's talk about the dark side of the Christian life, the part that isn't much fun. Let's talk about Christian suffering.
