The emotions that I have now is sadness and a slight case of hopelessness. I feel as though I am going through a storm. The majority of the things that I attempt to do does not work out. I have no peace. I listened to one of the epidsodes were the pastor said that Jesus sometimes have to rebuke us in order to give us a fair warning about the things we may are doing wrong. I was pretty puzzle about my circumstances and the reason for them until I heard the epidsode. I am currently looking for fulltime work, and my car needs major repairs, in the mist of all those things I am trying to keep good grades in college. I am only 26 and I am only trying to live a productive life style, can anyone share a bit of advise or words of wisdom for this matter.
I pray that you will continue to seek after God and continuing trying to live a productive lifestyle for Him.
As for words of wisdom, I recommend reading 2 Corinthians chapter 1. Throughout the chapter, Paul describes to the Corinthians the difficulties he faces while at the same time professing his continued trust in God. I'll highlight especially verses 8-10 when he says, " We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10 He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,11 as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many."
I encourage you to also listen to other Groundwork programs, as digging into scripture will grow your faith and give you the strength to endure the hard times. In light of your situation, I particularly recommend these programs which you can find in the archives on our episodes page: When Life Seems Unfair on Psalm 73, When God Seems to Have Deserted You on Psalm 22, & Searching for Financial Freedom on Matthew 6:19- 34.
In closing, I would also like to share this prayer from theologian Reinhold Niebuhr with you and I hope that in time, it will be your prayer too.
GOD, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardship as the pathway to peace. Taking, as he did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Trusting that he will make all things right if I surrender to his will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life, and supremely happy with him forever in the next. Amen.
I hope you find some or all of these words encouraging and comforting.
