The Cast of Christmas
Advent is a season of both waiting and hopeful anticipation. The weeks leading up to Christmas are full of cherished traditions: Nativity sets, specially designed worship services, and children’s programs all draw us again into the story of Jesus’ birth. Advent is a special time to anticipate our annual Christmas celebration. Still, at the same time, it is also a season to prepare our hearts as we look forward to and anticipate Jesus’ second coming. In this Groundwork series, we’ll examine each of the traditional elements of the Christmas story as we dig deeply into the scriptures from which it is drawn. We’ll look closely at each of the individuals God called to play a strategic role in welcoming the incarnate Christ into our world. We’ll glean wisdom from their experiences to nurture our own spiritual growth and inform our participation in God’s continued work in our world today.
