Something about New Year's authentically inspires a sense of renewal. In reality, New Year’s Day is just another day; yet, somehow, being the first day of a new year marks it as a new beginning, naturally imbued with hope, and a good time to try new things or reset our habits. We run out and get that gym membership, or sign up for that art class, or make any number of other New Year’s resolutions. For many Christians, our resolutions might be spiritual in nature: reading the Bible more, praying more, or serving more often. The audio Bible studies below are a great way to pursue your New Year’s resolution and cultivate your faith. Choose one of these series to get your new year started.
Spiritual Disciplines. While not a biblical list found directly in Scripture, the list of spiritual disciplines has remained relatively consistent since the time of the early Church fathers. Why? Because these practices are encouraged and modeled in Scripture, often by Jesus himself.
Spiritual Disciplines, Part 2: Healthy Habits for Life. In this second Groundwork series on the Spiritual Disciplines, we explore seven additional time-tested habits that the Holy Spirit uses to strengthen our spiritual muscles and help us deepen our relationship with our triune God.
Reading the Bible. Christians agree that the Bible is the most important book for our faith and life. But what kind of book is the Bible? Study scriptures that give us guidance for reading the Bible so that we get the most benefit for our faith, our lives, and our communities.
The Kingdom of God. How often do you think about the kingdom of God? For most of us, the concept of a kingdom is not part of our daily life. And yet, both Jesus and the apostles spent a significant amount of time teaching and preaching about the kingdom of God.
Questions & Answers. On Groundwork, we believe that biblical inquiry can strengthen our faith. At the end of every episode’s conversation, we ask you to share what topics and passages you’d like to hear discussed on Groundwork. In these episodes, our hosts answer your questions.
Groundwork is a weekly, half-hour audio program for radio and podcast that digs deeply into Scripture as the foundation for our lives. Our current hosts, Scott Hoezee and Darrell Delaney, cultivate our understanding of God’s Word by unpacking the richness of the Bible in casual conversation and applying it with insight for today’s world.
