Journey Through Holy Week
During the season of Lent, Christians around the world spend time reflecting on our universal need for a savior. Holy Week, also known as Passion Week, is the climax of the Lenten season and includes the days commonly called Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter Sunday. In this Groundwork series, we’ll examine the gospel records of the events that these days commemorate—like Jesus Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, Jesus’ last Passover meal with the disciples, Jesus’ crucifixion, and of course, his glorious resurrection from the grave on Easter Sunday. We’ll also discuss the Old Testament prophecies concerning these events and why their fulfillment was necessary to confirm Jesus’ identity as the long-awaited Messiah and Savior of the world. Our journey through Holy Week together will encourage our thoughtful contemplation on Jesus Christ’s atoning sacrifice, fuel our anticipation of Easter, and help us earnestly reflect on what these events mean for how we live as followers of Jesus Christ today.
