The Sermon on the Mount: Famous Teachings of Jesus
One thing the Bible makes clear is that God’s ways are not our ways. In Jesus’ day, the religious leaders thought they were obeying God’s law, but in their rigid observance, they missed God’s heart. Today, it can be just as easy to confuse our ways with God’s. Thankfully, God doesn’t leave us on our own to guess his ways or his heart. The Gospel of Matthew records what we now refer to as Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, a collection of the rich teachings Jesus shared with his disciples, that provided a kingdom perspective on life in this world. In this Groundwork series, we’ll examine the Beatitudes, the Lord’s Prayer, and many other teachings from Jesus’ famous Sermon on the Mount to gain wisdom and a kingdom perspective on practical, everyday things like prayer, money, worry, and more. Together we’ll gain a greater understanding of God’s heart and how our daily lives can honor God and reflect his heavenly kingdom on earth here and now.
